What to sendHow to apply
Choose the steps for your funding type.
- Get NSFAS funding
Apply for funding on myNSFAS, the NSFAS funding site, with your SA ID, email, cellphone number, parent or guardian IDs and the signed NSFAS consent form. You must be registered or accepted at UKZN or DUT.
- Apply on the NSFAS portal
Log in to the NSFAS accommodation portal, xgprod.nsfas.org.za (opens in a new tab), find your residence and apply for your 2-day viewing stay there. Every NSFAS application is made on the portal, never with us.
- Come for your 2-day viewing stay
Once the portal confirms it, you stay with us for two days and see your room, the kitchens, study room and security for yourself before you commit.
- Enter the move-in code
Happy? Back on the portal, enter your residence’s move-in code, listed below. Check it matches the building you viewed, then follow NSFAS — Lease.
- Check your lease
Once your move-in code is in, your standard NSFAS fixed-term lease is generated on the NSFAS accommodation portal. Check your name, ID number, residence and lease dates. Only sign once you have finished your viewing stay and you are happy with the residence.
- Sign electronically
Accept the terms and sign. Your lease then appears under My Lease Agreements on your dashboard.
- Download your lease
After signing, fill in every detail the portal asks for. Once the portal confirms everything is in order, download your signed lease and keep a copy.
- Campus paperwork
Your university may need to verify your off-campus accommodation. We’ll help you with this.
- Move in
Collect your room and front-door keys and enrol on the biometric access system.

Before you pay anyone. NSFAS applications are free, so never pay anyone to secure an NSFAS room. Self-funded? Only pay into our official account, and only after you have signed a lease with us.
Once you’re in. Whatever your funding, report maintenance to your building manager.
Unlimited Wi-Fi and buses to campus
Both are included at every residence, at no extra cost.
Wi-Fi. No data caps, no throttling, no blocked sites and no limit on devices. Full-time technical support, with faults escalated to our technicians the same day.
Buses. Our buses run several trips a day between each residence and campus.
Please note: the bus schedule will be shared with you on arrival at your residence.
